Initial application for Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) Visa

Post by fatguyslim » Mon Mar 25, 2013 9:28 pm

Hey Everyone, I have a few questions regarding my initial application for Tier 1 (Entrepreneur). My current statues in PSW. I want to confirm that the documents that I am providing sufficient for a successful application. I understand that every application under the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) goes through rigorous checks so I can't imagine getting all the answers on this forum but a few heads would definitely help. So my questions are as follows

1. In regards to showing £200k, I am able to show this amount in my UK bank account but is that all I am suppose to do for the initial application? I mean do I have to show additional information explaining to the UKBA how I will be investing this money in my business? The guidelines don't mention anything of such sort but I am wondering if the border agency is going to expect that from initial applicants?

2. I am an Indian national and for my maintenance purposes I will be showing the equivalent of £800 in my bank account in India. Can someone please let me know what documents would I need to get other than my bank statements and a letter from the bank confirming that amount?

3. I have a degree from a recognised UK body (University of Lancaster) so I believe scoring points on English part wont be a problem. Has anyone had a problem with this section, even after providing the right documents?

4. I will be providing additional documents like Business Plan, Personal Statement, relevant documents regarding the business etc. These are the documents that I can think of which are relevant. So can someone please let me know the list of documents that the UKBA expects you to send other than the mentioned documents in the guidelines?

This is all very complicated and I feel like a dick asking these questions but I have gone through the guidelines a few times and I can't seem to understand further than what i know at the moment. Any input regarding this topic will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the link rehan01 but as you can see I am not applying under the 50k section. The reason why I am doing this to show that my business is yet to start and that I am working towards investing in it. I mean I am being careful here and don't want make any promises to the home office, it is a lot of money and I wouldn't just throw it away without thorough understanding of what I am doing.

The link shows an applicant who has a business already registered and is applying under the 50k PSW to ENTREPRENEUR route. In my case I am trying to bypass all of this and show 200K in my uk bank account and £800 in my Indian account. There is no third party and there is business registered so far so I wonder what the border agency would expect off me?

Regarding the BRPs, I got my biometric done when I applied for Tier 4 few years back. What do I have to do to apply for it again? This is one thing I am currently confused about because after my Tier 4 BRP I got PSW stamped on my passport and the BRP was destroyed back then. Can someone please tell me if I will be required to give the biometric again this time?

Can someone please let me know what I am missing? Cheers

You have to provide biometric every time you apply for visa irrespective of how many times you have given biometrics in past.

Maintenance funds are £900 as far as I know and you have to maintain this for 90 consecutive days in your bank account.

If you are applying under 200k cat than I guess you just need to provide business plan that what business you want to do etc and yes you don't have to provide contract or registration of company etc.

I think if you go through policy guidance in detail you will be fine as there is nothing you need which is not in policy guidance.

Hope it help

Great! That makes sense. The policy guidance doesn't really ask for a business plan and I believe UKBA can't refuse my visa on this basis unless I am missing something? I will however give a business plan but in my business plan do I have show how I will be investing the whole of £200k in the UK? I mean it is a substantial amount and no one can predict the future outcome of their business in these degenerate times?

I understand the Biometric part now so I believe once I apply for my Visa I would be asked to give the Biometric given that the Visa is not refused before that.

Lastly can someone please tell me the work restriction on Tier 1 (Entrepreneur)? Are we allowed to work in the same area as the Business? For example to gain experience? Thanks
