ILR - Approved at Glasglow PEO- Same day service

Post by satteshk » Wed Mar 27, 2013 10:12 pm

Sorry for long post, hope this helps someone.

Application: ILR application SET O – under terms Tier 1 General. (Previous extension of HSMP was also same day service at Croydon) – 5 year period. ( we completed 4 years 11 months and immediately applied)
Main Applicant & 3 Dependants (Spouse & 2 kids – born outside UK.)
PEO : Glasgow - Same day service – 25th March.
Process at Glasgow PEO:
Appointment time: 11am – Arrived at PEO at 10:15am.
Step 1: Security check. There is no scanners but your bags are checked manually by the security officers – unpack and pack your bag. Mobile Phones, drugs/medicines are kept in a plastic bag which has a tag and you are given a token to collect them upon your return. Meaning you cannot carry mobile phones further after this point.
Step 2: There is only one counter where you will be asked to report. The lady at the counter inside will ask your first name and last name. She will then match with her list and highlight (confirms that you have arrived). We arrived 35 min before our appointment at 11am. She asked us to be seated and she gave us a token/ticket number exactly 5 minutes before our appointment schedule time.
Step 3: Our ticket number was called and we went to the counter at which we were called at. The person at counter just asked for my ILR application, ensured we had filled the card details by which we were paying. (There is no chip and pin facility – the card details which are filled on the application form are used to debit your account). He only asked for our Life in the UK test results, cohabitation document, (Provided water bill). My 12 months’ payslips & bank statement. Since our children are born outside UK, asked for their birth certificate. He then asked us to be seated and said the case worker will call us and before that we will be called for bio-metric.
Step 4: After 35 min approx.. our ticket number was again called at bio-metric desk. We gave our bio-metric and then returned back to wait.
Step 5: After another 1hr approx.. as it was lunch time, our ticket number was again called at another desk and this is the time I met the case worker. He just appreciated my form as I had actually type the form rather hand written. I used PDF writer. He then said “Your ILR application is approved”. You may sign this letter of acceptance and leave. The cards will follow within 7 working days. He also asked how we are travelling back to London; we said we have our flight back in another 2hours. He wishes us safe trip back home. I did ask him if he wanted photocopies or any other document. He said “NO” – He is well satisfied.
I was more surprised as I received the bio-metric cards within 2 days. The cards are valid 5yrs for children and 10 years for me and my spouse. Before this time either we opt for naturalization or we go for reviewing the card.

I did carry all 5 years documents, but looks like it was a smooth exam as I prepared very well for it. I did not keep anything for last minute. We also passed our life in the UK test almost 2 years before this ILR application.

@ Tier1G09

Spouse Degree certificate is not mandatory, I just carried as a back-up. In case they suddenly don't surprise me asking me to provide any further proof of her English Lang. ability. I suggest before you apply for your ILR as you still have long time - you always check most updated rules then,

Thanks Satteshk for your info and congratulations for your ILR. Are the NHS cards and school letters necessary for dependants/kids

Documents for kids

Post by satteshk » Fri Mar 29, 2013 2:50 pm

@ Mah

I could not find any document check list for children under 16 to support as cohabitation document. Also my children joined me exactly 2 years ago.

Hence I just carried NHS cards & letter from school to show that they are currently in UK. the school letter confirmed the address as per their records which matches to rest all documents.

However, the case worker did not ask any supporting document for Children. Hence I cannot say it was mandatory, just that I carried the document. It is better to have one rather being sorry there!
