Hi Guys,please I would appreciate your advice,I am intending to invite my mum from nigeria,I am on a spouse visa working as a support worker in a care home,my wife is a British citizen working as a customer service advisor,we live in a one bed room flat,would like to invite my mum for our naming ceremony as my wife will give birth around the summer,pls I would appreciate your advice on what steps I need to take to have her visa granted......Cheers

She would need to apply for a visitor visa. As she will be visiting both you and your wife (who is a BC) she can apply for a family visitor visa. To understand what is required, start by reading the information on the UKBA website: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... uirements/

Thanks a lot for the web link,I would like to ask,if we can make a joint invitation I.e I and my wife,how about us living in a one bed room flat,hope that Won't be a problem,and when is the best time to apply,and what documents are needed to support her application....thank you

To understand what is required (including documents she will need to supply and those that you/your wife will need to supply as the sponsor, if you intend to sponsor her) you will need to start by reading the information posted under the link I provided.

Generally speaking, for a short term visit of a few weeks I'd say a one bedroom apartment would be fine, if you can accomodate her there.

There is no specific time which would be considered best to apply (check the processing times for visit visas in Nigeria to understand how early she would need to apply depending on when she intends to visit), she can request that the visa be valid from a future date, if applying early.
