Letter for absence after 6 April 2013

Post by [iD] » Fri Mar 29, 2013 10:34 pm

I know this has been discussed a lot and there is still a lot of confusion regarding this. I am ready to apply for my ILR on 30th April based on HSMP/Tier1

I have 2 absences in last 5 years and during my first absence I wasn't employed but the other one I was.

I have wrote a letter myself to explain the absences and have acquired another letter from my employer detailing the second absence.
Below are the letters

Personal letter

Code: Select all

Dear Caseworker,

This is to confirm that I had two absences from the UK during last 5 years.

For my first absence, I left the UK to visit Pakistan on 24th of May 2010 and returned to the UK on 9th of June 2010. The purpose of this visit was to see my family in Pakistan.

For my second absence, I left the UK on 18th of June 2011 and returned on 3rd of July 2011. The purpose of this visit was to attend funeral of my late motherwho passed away on 18th of June 2011.
Employer's letter for second absence

Code: Select all

To WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Mr ABC has been an employee of <company-name> since <date>.

Unfortunately in June 2011 his mother, domicile in Pakistan, passed away. Mr ABC was granted a combination of compassionate and annual leave to attend the funeral and was away for the period 18th June 2011 returning 3rd July 2011, returning work on July 4th.

Yours sincerely

Please note that 18th of June 2011 was saturday and 18th of 3rd of July was a Sunday.

I will be providing the death certificate of my mother with these letters.
Letter that my employer wrote doesn't spicifically mention the number of days annual leave and how many days of compassionate leave was awarded to attend the funeral. Is this ok or do they need to mention how many days were compassionate and how many days were annual leave?

Could you guys please have a look at both letter and let me know if there's anything that needs changing?

Thanks in advance
Goodluck.

The letters look fine. I notice that both letters refer to your absence due to compassionate reasons - this isn't required in that you could have simply provided the personal letter & death certificate. Having said that, submitting both letters will not do any harm. The fact that your employer letter hasn't split your annual leave & compassionate leave, is just a technicality & insignificant in your circumstances.

Yeah I thought when writing the letter why not just mention both absences. Just a waste of some ink.
Employer couldn't be arsed to specifically mention number of days as per type of holidays. Just wanted to make sure if specifying the type and number of days is a requirement.
Goodluck.
