Croatian on work permit (soon to be EU) ILR before BC?

Hi Everyone

I am a Croatian national who has been working in the UK for the last 5 years on a work permit which is due to expire on the 8th of May this year.

My goal is to obtain a British Passport so I can be the same nationality as my wife (married 3 years) and daughter.

My plan is to apply for ILR next month but what with Croatia joining the EU in July I am wondering is their an easier/less expensive way to go about applying for naturalization, or should I still be applying for ILR?

Any information on this would be much appreciated.
