ILR AND CHILD BENEFIT

Post by shana35 » Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:56 pm

Hi I am applying for my ilr next week and i am receiving child benefit as i am from mauritius. I checked so many times before and found that mauritius has a social agreement with the Uk and that in my case child benefit doesnot count as public fund. I am very worried as when i phoned the UKBA they said if i have no recourse to public fund that means i am not allowed for any benefit in the U.K. Anyone with a similar situation please help. I am very worried for the outcome of my ILR.

As Mauritius has a reciprocal social security agreements with the UK see http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... iew=Binary so technically Child Benefit should not be classed as public funds. However, I am not sure how they will approach this and they may need to ask a senior caseworker to look at it.
