Tier 4 to Tier 2 what if its rejected

Hi all,

I have a question I cant seem to find an answer. I am finishing my PhD(done 3 years) and writing up my thesis and have one years of tier 4 visa left. My employer is happy to do a tier 2 for me.

I am wondering what if the tier 2 is rejected? Can I still continue on my tier4 and finish my PhD?

if the switching to T2 application is refused your T4 leave will still remain valid.
