The father of your daughter? British? and if so if he named on your daughter's birth certificate?

Can you explain a bit more about your UK immigration history? And have you ever been served with papers requiring you to leave?

Was her father a British citizen or "settled" in the UK (ie permanent resident of the UK) when she was born, and are you married to him? If so your daughter is a British citizen.

If that's the case, she really ought to get a British passport.

If not, you should be aware that she is not a British citizen BUT she almost certainly has an entitlement to be registered as a British citizen under section 1(4) of the British Nationality Act 1981 if she lived in the UK for the first 10 years of her life.

In which case you are totally entitled to make an application under the 14-year rule. Indeed you could have made such an application 4 years ago.

Such applications are not dealt with very quickly. Expect it to take a year or two before you hear the result of your application.

The application form to use is the SET(O). Go to this IND webpage. Download that form and have a good read. In "modern style" the form incorporates its own guidance notes.

At the moment i have a solicitor
and i am putting my pappers together.
So by using a solicitor or to do this in person myself which would
take longer.
i have already paid £300.00 to the solicitor. it just
for me now
to get all my info to give her so can she can infrom the home office
about my 14 ILR concession.
Thanks alot.

Is it just me or are Redhot's posts constructed like poems? The last post was almost like a haiku poem.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Were you married to her father at any stage? This is really important regarding your daughter's citizenship status.

Then you need to understand that your daughter is not a British citizen as neither of her "parents" (as defined for nationality purposes under the British Nationality Act 1981 before 1 July 2006) was a British citizen or permanent resident when she was born.

However if your daughter lived in the UK from birth until age 10 then she has an entitlement to be registered as a British citizen under section 1(4) of the British Nationality Act. Irrespective of her immigration status or yours.

Download form and guide T from this website:
http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/applyi ... dguidance/

The fee for her registration as a British citizen is GBP200.
