fiancee visa - can i apply on behalf of my partner

Post by corum99 » Mon Apr 01, 2013 4:21 pm

Hi,

Is it possible for me to complete and submit the application paperwork and evidence on behalf of my partner. I am in the UK and she is in the Philippines. I understand she would still need to visit Cebu to submit biometrics data but just think it may be easier all round if I could fill in the paperwork.

Yes, but save the completed form in the system and have her do the actually submission (the mouse-click!). The form has an electronic signature that is legally binding on the applicant so (strictly speaking, although impossible to police) she has to perform this aspect.

Ok thanks. Application process will hopefully begin in August' pending a successfull annulment.

What about supporting evidence such as logs of correspondence, can these be submitted electronically? I was thinking maybe of uploading everything to drop box or mega then just providing the BA with a link to access it. If paper copies are required, can I print them out and send them in or will my partner have to do it?

No supporting documents can be submitted electronically - all must be handed in in person at the appropriate office.

Your fiancee will have to do this.

Ok thanks.
She lives in Tandag which is a plane ride away from Cebu/Manilla, so it would be best if possible to coordinate the exercise as much as possible. I understand that the following can only be done in Cebu/Manilla:

1. Hand in evidence.
2. Biometrics scan.
3. English test.

Is there anything missing from this list and is it possible to do all three at the same time?

Well - you need to have done 3 and waited for the results in order to do 1 - so definitely not.

I think you'll need to budget for a few flights.

Ah ok, I appreciate the advice. I'm still early in the 'researching' phase at the moment. Could do with a chronological checklist really, will have to draw one up.

Presumably one can take the English language test at any time and it remains valid indefinitely?c

Edit: The list of approved tests on the UKBA website suggests some have no expiry date whilst others are valid for only two years.

Yes, so expiry depends on which one you take

An unrelated question, but though i'd pop it in here first rather than start a new thread.

By the time we submit our application, my partner will have reverted to her maiden name. If she submits evidence in her married name howeveer, e.g. passport/english test certificate etc, will that be a problem?
