Baby passport photo specifications

Post by majumdar.anamitra7 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 8:39 pm

Hi All,

My daughter was born on 13/03/2013. I need to apply for her birth registration and Indian Passport at India High Commission London. We have got her photos.

Can some one please let us know whether babies less than one year can have their eyes closed in the passport photos?

GOI specification as below:
http://passport.gov.in/oci/Photo-Spec-FINAL.pdf

In my personal experience 5 years back CGI Edinburgh returned my baby photos with closed eyes, saying Authorities may reject closed eyes photos and asked me to send one's with eyes open for 1 week old baby!

I raised concerns and complaints to Ministry. Over the period of time I have noted they have relaxed the very young childrens photos, below 1 years old.

However whatever the GOI specification and I say. Its your jurisdiction HCI/CGI how they LIKE to deal with this issue is what you will be interested in.

If your travel is not very urgent then I would suggest taking photos as baby is comfortable and then see how it goes. If its urgent then no point taking chance! Just to be BabuProof!!

Good luck and regards.
