Marrying on an unmarried partner visa/ILR

Post by mariewelsh3 » Wed Apr 03, 2013 11:47 am

Hi I have an Australian partner who is currently in the UK on an Unmarried Partner visa. He is due to apply for ILR in December.

Can we continue to apply for ILR as an unmarried couple and then marry on it later? Would we need to reapply for a spouse visa?

Your help will be very much appreciated!

You can marry before or after his ilr or not at all it makes no difference to his immigration status.

This may be relevant in regard to applying for naturalisation, but i concur that it is of no necessity to an ILR application, due to the fact that the probationary period is essentially the same in all cases.

Thanks! So we wouldn't need to apply for another visa?
