Time period a dependant can stay out of UK

Post by Pirnawaz » Thu Apr 04, 2013 8:31 pm

Hi there,

Apologies if this has been asked before but I need to know if my wife is on a dependant visa, is there a maximum number of days she can stay out of UK for? her status is PBS Dependant (further leave to remain).

I asked this as when I applied for my ILR from Tier 1 (General) there was a time limit of 180 days.

I thank you all in advance for your help.

Nawaz

180 days as per http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ettlement/

Because if she leavs UK for >180 days she will break her continuous period of residence condition for ILR and become no longer eligible to apply for ILR after 5 years under PBS dependent and wont be able to extend further under PBS dependent category. Think ahead, about the future.

That link is applicable to the main PBS holder. I'm not sure if it's also applicable to PBS dependants.

Thank you for the responses so far, does the 180 day time limit apply to dependants qualifying for indefinite leave to remain on the 2 year route as well?
