PEO Croydon - ILR approved - WP

Post by nomadma » Fri Apr 05, 2013 6:25 pm

Hi all,

My First post here - just wanted to give some details back after using the information I found here to prepare my application.

Background:
- On a 5 year WP granted Feb 08
- Entrance Visa granted in advance for 02/05/08
- Enter UK on 03/05/08
- Working for the same employer since May 08
- WP expire 03/05/13
- Applied today (05/04/13) right on the 28 days allowable period
- SET (O) w/ No dependent

Experience/process:
I was preparing the application last week without realising that some rules will change as of tomorrow.
Anyway, managed to book an appointment on 02/04/13 for 05/04/13 8:20am.
(I just kept trying every 10 mins and eventually found 2 slots avaliable!)

- Got to Croydon at 7:50am and allowed through to Security check @8:05am
- Token issued at G/F and payment made on 1st Floor
- Around 8:25am called to counter for initial check / passport / photo
- 8:35am for Biometric then on to 2nd floor
- Waited until 9:00am to be called for application
- Shortly before 10:00 granted approval letter

Doc
- App form (of course!)
- Original WP
- Police registration Certificates
- Life in UK test Cert
- Employer letter (w/SOC code, duration of work...etc)
- Employer certified Leave Report for last 5 years
- Employer certified copy of Payslip print out for the month of March
- Bank stamped statement (one with all details shown for March 13/April 13, one without all the details shown for Dec 12 up to March 13)
- 4x P60s (2012-2013 is not avaliable just yet)
- Passports (2 active with different nationality, 3 previous)
- Copy of all of the above except app form

Notes
- I have a total of 5 passport (2 active, 3 previous) one of which was used to apply WP and entrance visa and another one, with different nationality, was used 11 years ago for an unsuccessful WP application. I was queried on this so just told the officer the truth (no point hiding as they have all records anyway)
- Had all my document nicely filed and lablled but the case worker was not impressed, give me a look and told me to remove everything (post it notes...etc)
- Bank statement was a tough one as some have already mentioned in the forum that Barclay only print out for up to two months in local branch "Account Manager machine". Plus such print out does not reveal the full accout number. I got another printout after talking to the cashier at the bank but even then the print out lack alot of information requested in the app form, although the crucial bit with my employer paying into my account was clearly shown.
- only one month payslip w/ employer stamp and letter. The case worker seems to be unimpresed by this and ask for more payslips. To whcih I politely point out that the set(o) form only ask for 1. I then proceed to point out each of the past 3 months relevant salary payment as shown on the bank statement and the case worker seems to be satisfy with this.
- Life in UK test. I took the test 2 weeks ago when they first release the 2013 new edition. The new book has a significant increases in terms of dates of events. Its not hard the test, but definitely not a test that one could attend blind without revising the whole book

I feel relieve and lucky that I managed to squeeze it in in such a short amount of time. I hope my experience listed above can be of some use to any of you that are preparing for ILR.

Good Luck :)

you are lucky as managed to get your application approved before new rule changes. I wanted to do the same but could not gather all documents in short period so will go later.

How did you manage to book appointment with partner (dependant)? Or did you book two separate appointments?!! Thanks.

Sorry i did not made it clear - i only booked one appointment. I was merely saying that there were 2 slots avaliable even though i only booked it 3 days in advance.
I think if you are applying with dependent you only need one appointment.

I was very lucky in getting a slot so quickly.
