disable mother coming to UK

Post by boloney » Sat Apr 06, 2013 12:06 pm

Hi.
Because of some family problems in Poland I`m thinking about bringing my mum to the UK. She is disable, have Disability Living allowance in Poland, also she will be able to get Polish EHIC card. Her DLA will be enough to rent her at least room so she can live near us. As for other expenses we will have to provide food, etc. Question is after five years will she be able to secure PR if she claim she was self-sufficent?
because her DLA may not be enough to live here on her own, will that work if she don`t claim any benefits?
on other side will she be able to claim something and get PR in future?

She may have difficulty qualifying as a Self Sufficient person, in the circumstances you have stated. But if she is able to show she is dependant on a qualified EEA National, or an EEA national with a right of Permanent Residence, then she may be entitled to these top up benefit without her having difficulty of securing PR, provided of course she meet the criteria for obtaining these benefits.

thanks for advice Obie.
even if she don`t claim any benefits ? I was thinking to get her bank account, forward her Polish DLA into that account, so she can show income, she can get EHIC card from Poland which will be valid for 5 years, and than renew it if needed.
well she is`t dependant on us at all, she lives with my sister now and they have `joint` household income. they had, I think now they don`t do it no more (I have`t got so much info because my mum is in hospital now).
also I`m naturalized BC now, can I still use my EEA status?
what if she lived with us? how would they class her?
will she be able to claim any benefits without working in the UK?
I would`t like to go that route, but it maybe better for her to move out from Poland.
