Tier 2 Visa

Post by gkhalwadekar » Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:46 pm

Hello everyone,

I have lived in UK for the past 5 Years since 2008. I did my bachelors and Masters from here. I applied for PSW in 2011 after my Masters and got it in Apr 2012. Since then i have been applying for jobs, but the only place i get stuck is bcoz of visa. The companies dont want to sponsor or dont have sponsor license.

Now, one of the company have decided to take me on but have put a condition that after Feb 2014 (Thats when my PSW ends) I have to renew my visa by myself as the company has decided not to go for sponsor license in the last minute.

Could anyone please tell me what option could I possibly have ?

I read a statement in Times of India today (07/04/2014),which says,

"There is no limit on the number who can obtain a Tier 2 visa to stay and work, providing they can get a graduate-level job paying £20,300 or more.
"

Can you put some light on this.

Thank you for reading this.
Hope to hear from you soon.

It's true, there is not limit on Tier 2 visas but to qualify for a Tier 2 visa, you need to have a company sponsor you.

I think Tier 2 will be out of the question. You will have to look at different categories of the Tier 1 visa to check if you qualify for any of those.

You cannot sponsor yourself on a Tier 2 visa - a company MUST provide sponsorship. However, even if the company were to provide sponsorship, you still have to apply for the visa and renew it with your own application. Otherwise, the only routes to stay here are via the limited Tier 1 options, family settlement visas and Tier 4.

Times are hard and the UK is trying to reduce net migration. This means we all have to jump through many more hoops... but if it is the choice of the economic migrant to come here (I am an economic migrant).
