Tier 4 with Distance Course

Post by Pipas » Sun Apr 07, 2013 4:00 pm

I want to study and live in the UK for a year, so as I have a degree I tought in make a Diploma of 1 year.

Can I get a Tier 4 Student visa with a one year course diploma?
I've been looking on internet and some webs says that could be like a part-time study but some universities reject to sponsor the study.

Can somebody explain me if depends from the university or if its possible?

Thank you very much,

The course must be full time in order to come under tier 4.

distance learning course

Post by aaliya1986 » Sun Apr 07, 2013 5:13 pm

why dont you try doing a distance learning course... fo that you will not have to be physically here to do it but you can submit the assignments for the diploma course and you will be assessed and awarded on your assignments...
and if you want to come and live in the uk you can always get a visitor visa.. this will do both for you..

Thanks you for the answer.

The fact is that I also wish to live in UK for an year for improve my english but at the same time I can't afford a full course.

I saw that there is full time and part time courses when you try to get a visa, is that right?

This is what I saw...

A Student Visitor visa can be a useful option for a non EEA national coming to the UK for study of less than six months, perhaps as a Visiting/Exchange student (or up to 11 months for an English language programme, which is not to be combined with any other study and must be applied for through Entry Clearance), or to undertake a distance learning course, such as the Distance Learning MBA. The Student Visitor visa is also appropriate for a student wishing to come back to take re-sit examinations. Student Visitors do not have to study full-time.
And here a video who said that
http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/inte ... r/dlvideo/

They put Part-time/Distance Course in the same group.. is this right?

Thank you very very much.

If you cannot afford full course, you cannot apply for Tier-4 visa.

Student visitor visa is actually a visit visa and nothing to do with Tier-4 or full time study. It has its own terms and usually its very hard to live in UK for a year on this visa, if you are not financially very strong.

Thank you very much for the answer, looks like I confused the terms.

So, however, it's impossible to study nothing in UK under the 4.000? I wish to study something while I improve my english.

Thank you very much again.

Tier 4 student has to physically attend the course 15-21 hours a week. Where as Distance learning course can be joined from overseas too.
Please donot send PM. Write in open forum to facilitate others too.

The only problem is that I can't afford 8.000-12.000 or even 17.000

What would you recommend me to be able to stay 9 or 12 month in the UK learning? I have already 2 degrees in my country and I just wish to improve my english and skills while I live in UK for a while.

I saw that part-time courses are also avaiable and I tought that had the same policy than distance.

Thank you for your time.
