Strange Dilemma about fee change

Post by aaliya1986 » Sun Apr 07, 2013 5:07 pm

Hi everyone,

this is my first post on immigrationboards.. i am on a PSW visa which is expiring tomorrow 8th April 2013. I got admission in University in Feb and doing my MBA. I got a CAS from university and have applied Yesterday 06 April 2013 for my Tier 4 visa from a post office. There is a very strange problem now...

After posting the application I came back home and checked the UKBA website..found out that the fee have changed  i didn't know what to do.. and i am still confused what to do..
the application forms have not changed on the UKBA website.. they are still the same... version 10/12. and they show the same fee 394.00GBP.

Now i am scared that the ukba will return my application as invalid because i did not pay the correct fee... i have paid through my credit card and not postal order. Some important points to note here are:

Visa route applied for: Tier 4 General Student
Visa Expiring: 8th April 2013
Visa Applied: 6th April 2013
new Fee applicable: 6th April 2013
Application form: remains unchanged
MEthod of payment: Credit/debit card
amount ticked: 394.00 gbp (because its this for postal on the form)
Postal: Next day delivery

another minor thing is that the post office from where i posted STAMPED the parcel instead of putting a sticker of that date.. but i have the postal receipt saying 6th April 2013 as the posted date.

please please help me because this thing is stressing me a lot.
thank you all in advance for all your help..

Yes, thats right! This is what people do when they wait for last day of visa expiry, to make new application. Now you should prepare yourself to apply again.

It's ok. Nothing to worry about.

You done it by yourself. There is a fee change notice on UKBA website since a month or two. You should alteast checked UKBA website once before submitting your application. Be prepared yourself for more and more stress! Nobody can help you in this matter. All I can say eat healthy food.

Yes thats right that fee notification has been posted on ukba website few months before and members has already commented a lot. Therefore, everybody is aware of that. More likely your application will be returned as invalid with the 28 days deadline to re-submit it to correct the reason.

thank you for the replies...
what i am trying to say here is that there are no new forms on the ukba website with the new application fee.. when there are no application forms with the new fee how can they expect me to pay it...

they can say that i could have used the postal order to pay the new 406.00gbp fee but again the form is saying 394.00gbp fee...

my confusion is that will they take of 406 pounds of my card or they will send it back... and if they send it back how shall i pay to them..

also if they send it back with the 28 days time.. will i become an overstayer.? thank you for the help

another thing there needs to be noticed is that...ukba website says on 5th April 2013 that:

You should use the new application forms from 6 April 2013. But if you apply on the previous version of a form, we will accept it up to and including 27 April 2013. If you submit an application on or after 6 April 2013, we will consider it under the revised Immigration Rules which take effect on 6 April, regardless of which version of a form you use. Applications submitted on or after 6 April must be accompanied by the new fee. Applications submitted with the incorrect fee will not be accepted.

but where are the new forms.. i have been looking for the new forms like crazt buy i can't find it...at another place it says

All applications submitted from 00:01 (UK time) on Saturday 6 April, must be accompanied by the correct fee. Any application accompanied by the old fee will be not be accepted. Applicants can use an old version of an application form for 21 days following the increase, but these should be accompanied by the new fee. New versions of our application forms will be available on our website from 6 April.

how will i accompany it with the new fee when the form has 394 written on it and i want to pay by CREDIT OR DEBIT card...

thank you.

That is not a bad option at all, most probably your parcel would have left the post office through to the mail delivery depot by now. You could contact the branch where you posted the application and request them to stop the delivery. IMO it is possible but you would have to prove the desperation and the importance. If I am not wrong then I guess there is some 0845 number where you can contact the Royal mail.

Good Luck

Invalid application does not receive section 3c backup that extends the visa till decision even appeal. If with your effort you stop your application to reach UKBA and place correct fee then your application will be valid as long as all other conditions are met too.

This is the asnwers. Regardless of version of form, they actually want correct fee after 6th of April. Mean you can use old form but fee must be new.

If you use stop postage trick, I don't think it will work with Next Day Deliveries. Plus, it may work only if post office staff allow you just open envelop and put correct fee. If they cancel the postage and deliver it back you for re-submission, you need to re-submit it today, same day, 8th of April and get receipt. Otherwise your application will become an out of time application. i.e. submitted after current visa expired.

In case, if you get your envelop back in post office. Don't try to erase, cut and re-write the payment page. Get a new single payment page print out now from new form and change the whole page. Or just attach a postal order of correct amount.

my only concern is that i dont become and overstayer in any case.. what i dont understand is that if there is no option on the application form to pay the 406gbp new fee..how will i pay that fee through the debit card.

is it that the ukba will charge me 406gbp even though the form says 394..

i understand that if they send the application back as invalid then i will not get the 3c.. but is there any way that i can call them and work things out over the phone through customer services or sending a postal order tomorrow with a covering letter. etc?

the only thing i am confused about is that how will i pay the correct fee when the form itself says 394.. still now the form has not changed on the website...
think about other people who will download the form print it and send it with the same fee because they would not know that the fee has changed because it does not say very clearly.. only going on to news and then you will see it..

i will try to check with the post office tomorrow morning first thing.. i will be there befoe it opens at 7.30 and then i will try to get the parcel back..
if failed i will call ukba and try to raise this issue with them because there will be so many people who will get affected by this..

Why not you call them and get their bank a/c details by telling your situation and then with bank faster payment transfer method you pay the correct fee.

Is that really possible?? If that is then im ready to pay whatever that is not a problem.. As long as the problem gets solved. For bow ive planned to goto post office early in the morning and catch the post before it leaves.. If i get it that will be the best thing if not then ill call ukba and see what can be done. If still that is not clear then i will go to the croydon office to speak and if possible i will pay there or even do the application there.. Really depends what happens..
Lets hope for the best
