I am a non-EEA parent of an EEA national child - can I apply to reside in the UK?

I am south african and my 7 year old child is spanish. Is it possible for me to live in the UK as a parent of an EEA national with my child. after splitting up with my husband I no longer have support in spain but have family in the uk
