10 years family visitor visa

Post by pullikanti » Mon Apr 08, 2013 4:32 pm

Hi,
I am currently on ILR in UK and planning to apply for 10 years visitor visa for my parents. But, I am not clear on the conditions of travelling to uk after getting this 10 years visitor visa.
If my parents do not travel to UK atall for the first 3 ot 4 years, then will they lose the validity of this visa?
Are there any conditions saying that their first visit should be within so many months after getting this visa?

Thank in advance.

Don't think so. AFAIK its a multiple entry visa, till it expires. They may choose never to come in those 10 years. But each time they come they will need to satisfy the officer at the border control that they will not overstay or permanently live here in violation of their visa terms.

Please do not ignore this case. As I understand the border control officer can deny entry even if they have visitor visa (http://www.immigrationmatters.co.uk/yes ... rival.html). As they get older, it becomes harder to satisfy this criteria.

Thank you again for the reply.
Will it not be enough if we show the pre-booked return flight ticket each time they visit UK?

My father cannot travle for another 3 or 4 years due to business reasons. That is why I was asking this question. Anyway, I want my mother to visit now. If I apply normal 6 months family visitor visa for my mother alone, will she get visa?
Since generally we apply visit visa for both wife and husband. If we apply only for wife, will they get rejected?

No. It depends on how convinced the border control officer is.

Yes very good chance, as she can easily show strong family ties (to husband) and very good reason for returning home.
