OCI Query

Post by GoodFellow123 » Sat Apr 13, 2013 1:01 pm

Hi,

I am planning to apply for OCI for myself and my family (wife and 2 sons). My youngest son was born last year in UK when we (myself, wife and elder son) were on ILR and Indian Passports. In January 2013 I applied and got British passport for my youngest son while we (myself, wife and elder son) were still Indian citizens (Indian passports) and on ILR. After we received the british passport for my youngest son we (myself, my wife and my elder son) applied for naturalization and since then we all 3 have got british passport. We are now applying for OCI for all 4 of us as a family application. But while applying for my youngest son I have the below queries

1. Do I need to provide any extra documents for my youngest son to prove our relationship as he never had an Indian passport?

2. If the answer for the above is "Yes", what documentary proof is required? Is it mentioned anywhere on HCI website. I could not find one.

I could find only this statement on HCI website

"If the applicant is making application on the basis of documents of parents or grandparents, documentary relationship proof must be provided. In case of documents of parents/grandparents being used, only Indian Passport copies or Indian Birth Certificate copies are acceptable."

3. Do I need to submit photocopies of surrendered Indian passport?

Any help on the above query is highly appreciated.

I am planning to apply for OCI next week.

Thanks in advance !
