Postal order

Post by destiniation_london » Mon Apr 15, 2013 11:01 am

For surrender of passport, if you are applying through Postal you're needed to send Postal order.

It seems there is a cost of £12.50 to make a postal order of £117.24. this is ridiculous on VFS part- why cant they accept debit card details on form.

Anyone guys, is it the only way to pay if doing a postal application.

So, you'd have to spend £12.50 to get postal order, any idea guys would certainly be appreciated

Well you can try sending cheque or cash!

If you read carefully on website of HCI/CGI it is clearly mentioned postal applications to have postal order payments only.

Its altogether different issue it costs fortune for end users in fees to be paid to Post office. But as if GOI gives a care for it, and even the service quality in return!

I too know it's only has to be Postal order, but was wondering if there is any way to get away without incurring that £12.50 post office charge - I guess not.

I second you mate, I don't understand so high fees of surrender of passport - £117.24, its insane - its as if they are trying to squeeze the maximum from you for the last time before you are never at mercy of GOI again

Your guess is correct. Else I too would have used and saved some money.

What last time?

PIO/OCI? You havent yet finished with GOI dealings! :)

And mind you, OCI costs more than the surrender, and thereafter miscellaneous services! And the days earnings you lose while wasting whole day at the HCI or CGI, or on numerous SD envelopes. (1 SD envelope per passport policy!)

Yes theres some bitter truth, till you apply for British passport you are milking cow for UK Govt, and thereafter for GOI.

Peace for all of us souls.
