Accountant Letter for Tier 1 General Extension

Post by bilalk123 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 9:44 pm

Hi

I am applying for extension of Tier 1 General and I have done very little consultancy work for local businesses. Rest of the amount is coming from my employment.

My Question is that I have submitted my accounts to Inland Revenue via my accountant, reading the guidance notes from 6th of April 2013 they mention that if i am showing self employing evidence via an accountant the accountant has to be certified by certain authorities in the UK but my accountant is not certified by any of the authorities. I have got the following.
1. Inland Revenue electronic submission prints out.
2. Business Bank Statements.
3. Copy of the Invoices that I sent to my customers.

Do I need to still have my profit and loss account verified by a chartered accountants?

Hi Bilalk123

Your accountant must be the certified accountant and approved from one the HO required bodies otherwise the case worker will eliminate that earning.

Make sure you check with your account who he / she is registered with, if no one, then please find some other accountant.

Thanks

Given that two different evidences of income is required, and you have:

1) bank statements
2) official tax document ("...a document produced by a person [ ... ] as an official return to a tax authority, showing details of earnings on which tax has been paid or will be paid in a tax year. The document must have been approved [...] by the tax authority" - I assume that's what you've got)

looks like it makes two. So I think in your case an accountant is optional.

accoutant/accounting firm

Can the accounting firm be registered as ACCA certified instead of accountant? Guidelines says that "such evidence must come from an
accountant or accountancy firm in the UK who is a member of a recognised supervisory body."

Can anyone advise about this?
