[RESOLVED] -HELP - Forgot To Send Dependant Application Form

Post by riddler700 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 7:59 am

Hi,

This forum has been very helpful in the past, and I thank the moderators and contributors of the community that have been actively involved in giving good advice.

My issue is that I recently applied for Tier 1 General Extension for me and my wife (3rd April 2012), and I didn't realise that I needed to send a Separate dependant application form for my wife. I have sent her passport, our wedding certificate, her passport photos, and council tax letters in our names, with my main application.

I spoke to UKBA, and they are saying that I need to send in a letter explaining that, but I need to pay the fees for "Dependant Applying Seprately" (which is £1545) . I am worried that the UKBA case worker may not be able to find my wife's documents because the documents were sent with my main application. I would have thought that I need to tick "Applying together with Main applicant" would be more correct, and then the caseworker should be able to find my application and link it with my wife's?

Has anyone else had this blunder? Please can you advise what needs to be done?

You can send the depemdant application form of your wife now but it would be with new fee with a cover letter explaining that you have forgotton to send it with mian applicant's forms on the same address where you sent yours. PO Box 496 Durham DH99....
If you would not send them they can approve your application and can refuse your wife's one or invalidate her application due to having no application forms.
UKBA keeps data by Names and date of birth and they would send her application to the case worker who has been assigned your application. But it is theyr headach not yours. You would be safe and on the right track.

Hi,

Thanks mnaeem126, I did send my wife's application (On 22nd April 2013) with the covering letter as explained to me by the UKBA service desk.

I have now received my own Passport/BRP and all of my documents back except for my wife's passport.

I have not received anything yet in the post for my wife, although the fee was deducted very promptly (within 2 days of posting).

What can I do to find out about the status of my wife's application, given the exceptional circumstances?

Has anyone been able to find out about their application status?

Also, I am concerned that even though I mentioned in my wife's application that all the bank statements were with my own application, they have returned all the bank statements to me. So I don't know how they are going to make a decision about maintenance funds??

Would really like some guidance on this issue.

And thanks again for continued service.

Visa Successful - Case Closed

Post by riddler700 » Thu Jul 11, 2013 10:15 pm

Hi,

I would like to provide an update on my situation. In the end, now my wife has successfully got her BRP and Passport back, which I am really glad about.

Essentially I had contacted Homeoffice, and eventually they sent a letter on 27th June 2013 saying that they had lost the application form (which was lucky for me) , and they would like me to complete another application. But I need not need to pay for the new application. I filled out the application, and sent it alongwith some of the evidence that was returned with my application and this case was resolved pretty quickly, with my wife receiving the documents back on Friday 5th July and the BRP by Tuesday 9th July 2013

I am happy that the caseworker dealt with my case effectively.

Thanks for your advice and support.
