OCI Application - Passport Lost

Hi,
I have to submit an OCI application for my son, however we are not able to find the old Indian passport for him.
I understand we can give a notorised affidavit for the same.
I also do not have his old passport number, is this going to be a problem ?

Does anyone have any similar experience.

I will be submitting in London.
