Do I have to do the UK life test and Language test?

Post by Ozzy » Tue Apr 16, 2013 4:25 pm

Hi please help,
I was granted indefinite leave to enter the UK under the family re union programme .The document was a UK entry clearance document and I used it on its own to travel to the UK.With no passport that is.The document also had my mothers home office ref number, not mine.
I was being re united with my mother who has been granted refugee status and is recognised as a refugee in the UK .I am now in the UK for five years and I have just turned 18 as well .I have read on the UKBA website that applicants who have lived in the UK for 5 years and have refugee status or are dependants of someone who is settled permanently do not have to do the life in the UK test before naturalising. In other words they are exempted . Since I was granted ILE then it is the same as ILR .My question is do I have to do the UK life test and language test or will I fall under the exempted refugee category or the dependant/relative of someone who has been given permanent status to settle?
I also attended high school in the UK where I did my gcse and passed both English language and literature with grade C. Will this pass or qualification be sufficient for the language test part suppose I am needed to do the KOL test?

Thanks for your help/advice
