Is it too late?

Post by dilip_gem » Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:51 pm

Hi All,

After paying so much tax, Having gone though numerous sleepless nights.. Going through anxiety and uncertainty of getting ILR. I'm really thinking of these following options... I feel if we really want to make a happy living in western world. why not try this? Atleast we don't have to worry about Unexpected changes in rules/ Hike in visa fee etc by our beloved UKBA.. Don't need to worry about maintenance of funds, English language requirement, Passports getting stuck at the home office or Employer letter for our trips abroad..IS it too late??? :)

H1B to USA:

German Blue Card:

Job offer & fee of 90 Euros for a 4 year visa ! plus you can work anywhere in Europe & get access to public funds. How good is that?

So long as you are alive and able, it's never too late for anything. I have to sound a note of caution - the grass always seems greener on the other side but the reality isn't quite as it's portrayed.

Its never too late, but its tiring. I'd much rather retire to my country of birth and face hardship there than in a foreign country (Read the Alchemist

Note of caution.

My colleague at work is German by birth, speaks perfect German without accent, but black. She finds Germans are more dearly beloved towards her than Britons :(.
(No offence intended to anyone, I'm just sharing her view)

And the USA will hunt you down and shoot you if you happen to be standing near an object that explodes later, even if you didn't plant said object. Make sure you are never at the wrong place at the wrong time when in USA

In other words, you may face trouble everywhere, if trouble has a habit of following you around .

Stay strong and resilient in face of hardship - you are built for it.

Thanks for those encouraging words Dimension7 :)
Well beloved is everywhere in fact I come from one of the most dearly beloved countries in the world - India (No offense ).. I mean having lived in different parts of India, I faced lot of discrimination based on religion/region/caste/language/dialect etc etc.. But I still love my country. The reason I came to western country is to avoid the daily struggle and make life bit easier. I mean in search of better life.. however the trauma that i faced because of changing rules, fee hikes etc, at times makes me depressed.. plus fear of passport getting stuck at the home office while application being processed, fear of losing passport while on a holiday in EU countries etc.. When I read harrowing stories about people on this forum, makes me think, whether I made right decision by coming here leaving behind good job back home (I can't get that job even if i return now).. In last few years here UK, i've missed several of life changing events and sometimes I wonder Why did I come to this country :(

H1-B to the US!!? Are you serious? There is a limit of 65,000 per year and this years quota has been filled up n 5 days!! If you are born in India or China- H1 B wait for green card is looong (currently those who applied for green card in 2004/2007 respectively are being processed)

Well, agreed US has a better standard of living, better weather and education system (IMHO) and a lot cheaper!!

That's true Sunita, US has better standard of living. And there you have places to escape in cold winters (you know what i mean) :) Here in UK we have certain things good (healthcare, transport, gun control laws etc).. but we also have a conservative govt (no offense) who are on a mission to make our ( law abiding/ tax paying high skilled immigrants) lives miserable..I spend loads on money to clear driving test & purchased a car, which I sold fearing the 'driving offense' rules they introduced..I mean as I said they have one mission- to torture high skilled migrants. On top of all that we have these high street banks (like Barclays) who refuse to co-operate with you for getting bank statements etc.. Not to mention the torture that we face from the Property Agents etc :)

btw they are increasing H1 quota from 65k to 110k and 180k in coming years..
