What is Child Benefit or Child tax Credit (CTC)?

Post by kannit » Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:56 am

Hi,

What is Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit (CTC)?

Does childcare vouchers given by employer can be counted under any of these two?

I used to get child care voucher worth 243 pounds every month out of taxable salary which I used for paying my son's nursery/pre-school. This means that I used to pay tax on (taxable salary minus 243 pounds)

I am on Tier 1 General visa with ILR due in 2015.

Regards

Child benefit and tax credits are public funds. Therefore, if your partner (if you have one) is not settled (has ILR) you cannot claim public funds. Child care vouchers are not public funds so don't worry about that. However, if you need a certain salary for your ILR it may matter that you have sacrificed your salary? Maybe it won't, you should know.
