Indian passport renewal + name change in UK

Hi,

I am a british citizen and my wife is from india.

Her indian passport expires in september this year.

There are 2 questions i have. Firstly, is the whole renewal process completed at the HCI or do you fill in forms beforehand then make a appointment to go to the HCI?

This parts a bit more complicated - my wife didn't have time to get her passport updated before she came to the uk so it still shows her maiden name.

to confuse matters even more, she has never used her real first name thats in her passport (as she didn't like it).

So at the moment, her passport has her maiden surname and her old first name that she doesn't use.

since she has been in the uk, we have always used her unofficial first name and her married name for surname for unofficial things. but for anything thats official (for example visa applications) we have always had to use whats in her passport.

Now to make it EVEN more complicated, i have changed my own surname recently by deed poll.

so now my surname is different to the one i had when i married my wife.

if i was to change my wifes name by deed poll (including her first name as well to make it official), when we go to renew her indian passport, can they update the details at the same time?
