tourist visa for spain

Post by helpwithilr » Mon Apr 22, 2013 11:02 am

Hi all,

I needed to clarify whether my wife will need a visa to travel to Spain with me for holidays.

Basically, the website says that she can travel if I accompany her as long as she has a valid residence permit.

When we applied for her residence permit, I was on indefinite leave to remain (Permanent resident) in the UK. So her permit says, Spouse/partner leave to remain.
Now that I am a British citizen can she travel with the me on the same residence permit even though it says spouse of ILR and not EU national.

has anyone traveled with such a scenario

I've moved your post as it was in a section describing success stories.

The residence permit cannot be used in lieu of visa. There is a difference between a residence card issued under the terms of directive 2004/38/EC and a residence permit issued under national rules.

That said, a visa would be free and should be issued promptly.
