Do I need to give proof of Absence?

Post by mittoo » Sun Apr 28, 2013 12:20 am

I'm going to apply for ILR, and I'm eligible for Set(O) form. I want a clarification on section 6 (immigration history); section 6.2 asks to give details if you've been absent in the UK for the last five years. According to the form, you've to list all absences, however they are short in date order along with proof of all the absences.

I've been out of the UK for:

1)29 days in October 2008

2) 20 days in 2009,

3) 20 days in Aug 2010,

4) 37 days in Nov 2011

5) 23 days in Oct 2012

The above shows that I've been out of the UK for around 130-odd days. So, should I fill the Section 6.2 and 6.3 which has asked to give details of travel outside the UK, however short they are?

Yes, it's required to fill the required sections in SET(O) form based on your circumstances.

You can find quite a lot of posts for recent ILR successful applicants post their experiences especially 6.X sections

Thanks for responding. I only have e-tickets of all my previous absences along with the passport stamp, and my marriage certificate proving my absence in the UK. Will that suffice the requirements of Sec 6? I'd appreciate if you could advise me on this. Cheers

Prepare a self declaration letter to cover all your absences outside UK as follows
Date (Out) , date (In), No.of days, Visa Entry/Exit Stamp Pages.

Based on my observation recent successful ILR cases, this letter is suffice to submit UKBA.

If there any issues, they may ask any extra doc evidences to support that. otherwise you will be fine.

Read recent ILR successful posts :) it gives you a confidence
