First Indian Passport /Citizenship for new born baby

Hi,

I am BC and my wife is Indian national. We want to apply for Indian Citizenship for our new Born baby who is born in UK. Does anyone knows if you need proof of not acquiring BC from UKBA for the child?

I don't have first hand experience but as per instructions at HCI website - First Passport for Children born in the UK, the answer is yes.

btw - have you registered the birth with HCI?

Thanks...Not yet, Do we need to register birth with local council first (for birth certificate etc) and then register with IHC?
