Dear Friends,
Has anyone of you applied for entrepreneur visa using 50K from venture capital funds?
Has anyone got his/her visa through this route?
I am planning to apply through this route and need guidance on how reliable this route is.
Please advise.
Thanks for your cooperation.

All routes are reliable as long as you fulfill requirments. What is your current visa? and has venture capital approved your application yet?

thanks... I am so glad to know that there are people opting for this route. I feel this is more reliable than going for option d which is for PSW holders. it is too tiresome registering business, NQF4 occupation, etc. Third party funds is also not a guaranteed option.

So, Venture capitals is much easier I feel.

I have applied through venture capital and I am currently on tier 4. You need a strong business plan and market research. Its not that simple. There are some people out there who are offering funding from venture capital. Be aware its not simple they will take their charges but you will be left alone to deal with everything afterwards.

If you think you have a business plan and you have done your research then try to apply to venture capital and secure funding. This is how I have done it and this is how it should be. Don't just blindly trust on middle men. UKBA will definately call you for interview then tou will have to defend your plan and prove its viable.

I hope it helps you all.

What above newbie said is correct.

Those who are not in the UK at the moment and want to apply through VC route, there is a different procedure. Please read the policy guidance carefully.

Secondly, when VC approves your case, they take into consideration your educational background, your past work experience and the new business you wish to start. They all must be relevant to each other.

A good business plan and proper market analysis is required because when you are called for interview, they will ask you questions on the preparation you have made to start the new business and why you think your business will succeed in the UK market.

PLEASE DO NOT PAY ANY MONEY TO UNAUTHORISED AGENTS WHO TELL YOU TO PAY MONEY AND THEY WILL DO THE REST.... BE AWARE OF THEM !!

Before talking to any Venture Capital Firm or consultant - please make sure you check that you know what a venture capital firm is and what it is allowed to do. I don't blame people for not really knowing what a Venture Capital firm is, as this is not a well known concept for people who are not in the financial services. In order to meet UKBA definition of Venture Capital Firm, a firm must meet the following criteria defined by FCA:

A Venture Capital Firm is defined under Financial Control Authority (“FCA”) regulations as:
“a firm whose permission includes a requirement that it must not conduct designated investment business other than venture capital business”

Venture Capital business is defined as:
“the business of carrying on any of:
(a) investing in, advising on investments which are, managing investments which are, arranging (bringing about) transactions in, or making arrangements with a view to transactions in venture capital investments;
(b) advising on investments or managing investments in relation to portfolios, or establishing, operating or winding up collective investment schemes or managing AIFs,9, where the portfolios or funds9 (apart from funds awaiting investment) invest only in venture capital investments;
(c) any custody activities provided in connection with the activities in (a) and (b);
(d) any related ancillary activities”

Venture Capital Investment is defined as:
“a designated investment which, at the time the investment is made, is:
(a) in a new or developing company or venture; or
(b) in a management buy-out or buy-in; or
(c) made as a means of financing the investee company or venture and accompanied by a right of consultation, or rights to information, or board representation, or management rights; or
(d) acquired with a view to, or in order to, facilitate a transaction falling within (a) to (c)

It means when you search the firm name on FCA register, go into "Permissions" tab and if the permissions section states "Only Venture Capital Business" then the firm will be accepted for UKBA purposes otherwise not! Even if they have £billion funding the firm will NOT be able to sponsor your application..

Also, read carefully the above definition, a VC firm can certainly provide "debt" and there is no restriction on them to require guarantees. The above definition is from FCA Handbook Glossary definitions go check yourself on FCA website.

I am searching for a genuine VC who meets the above condition and as I myself work in financial services sector I am hopeful that I will find one soon. Technical reason that there are hardly any firms that can sponsor a visa is that when firms get authorisation from FCA they prefer NOT to limit their business to Venture Capital business but keep it broader so that they can be involved in other types of businesses as well - and this means they cannot be a sponsor on the visa!

I will let you know as soon as I find a genuine VC firm..

Hi there
I apply for Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa. Now I got refusal with appeal right. I haven't check FCA. I gone through xx Venture Capital but xx is regulated by YY Capital firm. But YY has FCA license. In this case what you suggest for me. They give us reason XX venture doesnt have authority. If YY provided agreement between XX and YY company. How was the chances to win this case. ?????

That's a very smart way of promoting your business services on this forum, however it's not allowed in this forum. Seems like you're originally from Sindhuli, Nepal and currently running an overseas educational consultancy firm called E PARADISE LIMITED as a Managing Director (company seems to be over a year old). You're also affiliated with Moonsun Consultancy in Southall, London.

In one of your advertisements, you state the following: Tier1(Entreprenuer)( We will arrange business plan, investment fund by venture capital)
Source : http://enepal.co.uk/directory/1853/e-pa ... nsultancy/ http://s19.postimg.org/yujur4dsz/E_Para ... nectin.png

This means that you yourself were doing this Tier 1 Entrepreneur thing for other people too, but just now, you said that you got refusal from such company. I'm kinda confused now.

Kindly don't use this forum to promote your business, directly or by fantasy role-playing, as this is not allowed
