EEA1/2 Newbie questions Please help

Post by Malcom8 » Mon Apr 29, 2013 4:44 pm

Hi all,

I'm EU national (working in the UK for 5years) and just got my wife (who is non-EU) an EEA family permit (6months). She is now here in the UK and her FP runs out on August this year.

Questions regarding the application of EEA1 and EEA2(please bear with me I'm new here):

1- On the EEA checklist, it says I need to send my Original Passport and her original passport. I lost my EU ID, so I can't send an ID. Is it a must to send original passports for both of us??

2- I see that people request their passport back after a 2-3 months, can please someone explain why?. I thought we should wait until the 6months processing time are passed to get the RC and original passports back.

3- What happens when her FP runs out and we are still waiting for her RC? will they provide her with something temporary till the RC is out?

4- Should I expect an Interview/visit from HO?

5- Can she travel with me through europe once she get the 5years visa (RC?)

Thanks and sorry if some questions sound stupid.

Let the EEA family permit (FP) to expire because applying EEA2 RC is just the confirmation of non-eea national's residence right. Once you send the application you can request for the return of passports any time. Moreover, non-eea national can visa freely travel together with eea national to other european member countries up to 90 days. Since 2013 for EEA2 RC application the interview is almost become the part of application.
Please donot send PM. Write in open forum to facilitate others too.

The HO can hardly deal with the postal applications so I would doubt interviews are conducted in large numbers.
