Passport expiry

Post by rs.ind » Wed May 01, 2013 4:43 pm

Hi all

My passport gonna expiry in 5 months.. Is it a wise idea taking a chance travelling to India and comming back to uk with less than 6 months passport validity?
I have been told by travel agent I must have minimum 6 months passport validity else indian immigration officers won't let me fly.

Does any one had this experience? How far it is true?

Please help

Thanks in advance

Obviously its not wise as you are taking a chance only. If something goes wrong then downside is worse than upfront proactive paperwork. Imagine the hassles, loss of income loss of holidays etc and compare against if you do it "in-time" how much rewarding it will be?

Good luck with your renewal.

Regards.

rs.ind, you have not actually told us which passport is expiring in 5 months. Which country?

If it is a British passport, then appreciate that if you apply for a new 10-year passport, the unexpired time on the old one will get added to the new one. This applies when less than 9 months is left on the old passport.
