VAF5 - Question on Part 5 Online application

Post by naija99 » Wed May 01, 2013 11:27 pm

A German grandmother is sponsoring her two non EEA grandchildren (both under 18 ) to the UK for settlement.

Part 5 of the Form states the applicant should enter their parents details in relation to employment and finances.

Should they enter their mother's details (who has 5yr RC as family member of German mother) or the German grandmother who is actually sponsoring them and exercising treaty rights.

Also is proof of how they will pay for their flight required (bank statements) or will wage slips suffice?

This whole section is irrelevant to applications under the EEA regulations and is only there as someone did a copy & paste job in 2008 from another form and no one in UKBA bothered removing it (they are always happy to get more irrelevant information). Just ignore the questions stating "not applicable to applications under EEA regulations" or put zeros if you type in the text.

What is the status of the German grandmother in the UK? Is she working or does she have PR?

Where are the parents?

Thanks Jambo - its a bit difficult to ignore some questions when completing forms online as they dont allow you to proceed.

Directive - the grandmother is working/exercising treaty rights. The mother has a 5yr RC in the UK and the father is back in his home country and has no involvement with the children. Is a letter from him still required?

I will try to take a look at the questions you refer to.

As Jambo says, you can enter text into boxes which says 00000 or "Not applicable for this type of answer"

Remember also that you can write what you wish in a covering letter. This can be useful if you wish to add or clarify something that the form does not cater for.
