passports and BRPs taken away in fasttrack passport applc.?

Post by mealos » Tue May 07, 2013 5:43 am

Hi, just a quick question to see if it has only happened to us or a general practice: Last friday I made a fastrack passport application in IPS office Glasgow for my daughter who was born British under wedlock and months after I got my ILR , my wife still on FLR(M) though.

Supposedly (as they say on website) only thing they would be needing to keep was detailed birth certificate of the little one and our passports were to be examined and be returned on site, yet they have taken our passports and BRPs saying they will send us back. Because of that I had some issues with the new job I have started 2 days ago as the HR naturally asked for my passport and BRP.

Has it ever occured to anyone or is it the IPS officer I bumped into turned out to be a overconerning pain in the neck?

Thanks in advance

I hope you paid the extra money to have documents returned by special delivery.

Yes mate, thanks for concern!

They warned me in the interview and I paid that £3.00 to have them sent to us with secure courier however when I called them twice for the update turned out that no one is sure if I will be getting our passports and BRPs back this week or so as per defined in the Fast Track Service timelines. Each time they transfer me to someone on the phone I hear a different opinion.

Update: Had a phone call a week after I have visited the IPS to commence the fast track process, informing that their checks are complete and passport to be issued, my docs (passports and BRPs) are to be sent seperately.

My and my wife's passports have been "very securely" delivered into our mailbox!

What I think is this people are joke, it's all about being polite whilst delivering the services with the least of quality.

Long story short: If you are in my position (asking for British Passport for your child due to your or your spouse's ILR) don't even bother for a Fast Track Passport Service, you will be paying for 40 pounds more for maybe getting the passport 4 days earlier than the Check and Send service as far as I have been adviced about the timelines of mates in this website who have chosen regular way.
