CZECH NATIONAL UK PERMANENT RESIDENCY ?

Post by Ryuk_21 » Thu May 09, 2013 1:16 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm glad ive found this topic , albeit a bit too late :(

I am a bit annoyed at the amount bureaucracy an ordinary person such as myself has to put up with. its RIDICULOUS !!!

I have been continuously living in Britain for about 6 years now.
But a couple of days I have been offered a teaching job in China which I would like to accept. It is for 9 months or so.

I have NOT submitted any PR applications or anything yet. I want to become a dual citizen for 2 reasons: 1) I am a native english speaker and culturally I am not really Czech. (i obtained my czech nationality in 2005 though - my parents sorted this out as I was born outside Europe :(
2) 2 passports is never a bad thing!

First off, I wasnt even AWARE that I need to get PR first, before I can get a citizenship. And then when I started filling in the form for PR, it says there is an EXCEPTION for A8 nationals.. what???? Czech republic is a developed country, unlike poland so I dont get it ( but its probably because they both joined in May 2004 , :(

the "exception" rule is that I was apparently supposed to apply for some Worker Registration Scheme or something??? what the heck is that supposed to be. I had NEVER heard of that, nor have i ever applied for it or needed it. Besides I was a student here most of the time (sure Ive held part time jobs but who hasnt !)

can someone PLEASE help? also is there any point in wanting a UK citizenship? I looked up countries where a UK/CZ passport can get you and they are about the same. but a British passport is better for teaching I guess . so annoying.

thank you very much and I look forward to your replies :)

i.

Those questions are better to be asked in the British Citizenship section of the board.

I suggest you read Q1, Q5 & Q6 in Citizenship FAQs - Common Questions - Read before posting.

As the UKBA love to say - Citizenship is a privilege and not a right. You need to follow the rules even if you didn't know them at the time.

of course yeh that makes sense but they should at least provide people with a decent service. such as - when you call the UKBA , an ACTUAL person will answer and not some robot that gives you nothing except a pointless email address that you send an email to and then ...guess what?.... everybody ignores it.

Thanks ford the link - yeh i read those answers, if that is the case then that is pretty cruel considering i am (on passport) one of those "a8". What are the exceptions though? being a native speaker? culturally english/multicultural? (somehow i doubt it)

Students are exempt from WRS (although have another requirement which is a private medical insurance or a non UK EHIC). For how long have you been a student?
