English Language Test query

Post by indian2012 » Thu May 09, 2013 2:18 pm

Hi,

My ILR is due in Sept 2013 from Tier 1 general visa. I have given LIfe in Uk test along with my wife ( she came to Uk in JAn 2011) .

Although I do not have to give Englisg Language test since I am applying before 28th Cot 2013.

MY question is am I exempt from English Language test since I have degree certificate recognised by UKNARIC ( already received when I applied for Tier 1 general visa in 2008) and letter from College confirming degree taught in English.

My wife has completed masters degree , letter from college confirmng degree taught in English.

Or Do we have to give English Language test for Citizenship in Sept 2014 ?

Kindly advise.

IMHO, since the exact rules will only be known post Oct 2013 it is hard to predict what they will exactly require. Though if common sense prevails individuals who have degrees taught in English will be exempt from the English requirement.

No futher English language tests are required if you have a degree taught in English & have passed the LITUK test

You should be O.k. But wait till October'13, for the exact rules. So no more Panic Attacks like the Paye Tax Code.

I have been in the UK since July 2005 when will I get right to apply for British Citizenship?

2005-2009 Student Visas
2009-2011 Fresh talented visa
2011-2013 Marriage Visa
and hopefully ILR.

You will get your ILR. After that in a year's time you could apply for your British Passport. Now that Scotland wants to seperate from UK in 2014,you could apply for a Scottish passport.
