English as spoken by the EU

Post by tebee » Sun May 12, 2013 8:32 am

As a native English speaker who has recently had occasion to read rather more than my fair share of EU directives and the like, I've noticed that sometimes the English used in them is not exactly what I am used to, almost like reading a different dialect.

Well it appears at least some in the EU are aware of this too - I came across this document about the English they use. http://ec.europa.eu/translation/english ... ons_en.pdf
“I speak the truth not so much as I would, but as much as I dare: and I dare a little more as I grow older.
