Hi,
I am posting on this forum after nearly 1 and half years been granted the Settlement Visa, and nearing the end of my two year Settlement Visa, which brings me on to the next stage of my life.
I recently passed the KOL or as everyone knows as Life in the UK Test in May 2013. (A requirement for an application for the ILR - Indefinite leave to remain)
HOWEVER I have a hinderance as to what to do as follows
1. My 2 year Settlement Visa is due to expire on the 8 Nov 13
(This Settlement Visa was granted before the new 5 and 10 year routes, so I am OK to apply for the Indefinite leave to remain)
Before 8 July 2012 Applicants - http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... 65-fam-set
2. New Rules are being put in to place on 28th Oct 2013
(Applications to be made 28 days before Visa Expiry) so in my case 11th Oct 2013
SO THAT IN MIND
Will I be required to in accordance to the proposed changes
1. pass the Life in the UK test (Already passed and certificate ready)
and
2. to have a speaking and listening qualification in English at B1 CEFR or higher, or its equivalent.
Or am I clear to just submit the KOL test because my Application will be made before the proposed changes (11th Oct 2013) or will I be required to satisfy Point number 2?
(I am aware that when Naturalisation occurs usually 1 year after I will need to satisfy point 2 in due course?
Note: It's just incase I run out of time and I can satisfy point number 2 as above, which contradicts the original IELTS which measured my speaking & listening to have the Settlement Visa granted 2 years ago
Hope that all makes sense, and hope someone can answer my questions and suggest some further note.
