You will need to take the Life in the UK test in any case and this is the cheapest option. The test is not very difficult.

If you have obtained PR Confirmation following EEA3 application, then you know your treaty rights evidence is good enough so just reuse it when applying in September (assuming you have completed 5 years by then).

I don't know much about the English tests but it will extra cost you can avoid if applied in September.

Why? Once PR is obtained (automatically after 5 years) you are not required to exercise treaty rights any more. You can also claim benefits without affecting your status.
Could my declaration on this year 1/1/13-1/1/14 have any efefct on the UK citizenship application? I don't think so but I just want to have your opinion on this.
It doesn't matter what you do after PR is obtained. There is no requirement to be employed or not to claim benefits to be eligible for naturalisation.

Sorry but I'm not familiar with the cost of those tests although I'm sure you can find it online (probably about £100?). You should be aware that if you studied for a degree in English, you would be exempt from the English test requirements.

But why would you go through this trouble if you can just apply before 28 October to avoid the new English test requirement.

Got you.

In that case, I would probably play safe.

I believe the HO will release more information about the English requirements closer to October. Achieving the requirement should not be difficult if you are able to communicate in English (even if your grammar is not so good).

Check the above sight. On their homepage, click on "Which exam"?

When the list appears, you need the third exam from the top mentioned as "Settlement/ILR or Naturalisation
(for applications on or after 28th October 2013)"

Check out the fees. I think it is £110 a shot. Basically, in and out, all done in 15 minutes.

Hello guys I need your help. I am about to make an application for naturilisation. I had a drink driving ban in july 2008. Meaning its 4years 11 months now. Based on the new rules for good character requirement i can see this as a non- custodial offence which means i could only apply for naturilisation 3 years after conviction. I want to make the application now but am not sure if i still have to wait for the previous 5year spent conviction rule. I want to be sure if i can post my application now rather than waiting. Pls advice.......

Can you not start a new topic? Something totally different was being discussed in this thread.

Why should someone answer your questions?

Read topics on this board, what you are asking has been posted at least a million times before.

All the information your are asking is out there. You just need to read the info and use your own brain, rather than asking others giving you the info on platter.

I need your advice on another related points related to the requirements for the UK natuaralization:

In October 2013 anyone applying for UK naturalization must pass a) English Test and b) the LIfe in the UK Test.

If I apply for UK naturalization now, so before October 2013, I can choosebetween a) English Test and b) the LIfe in the UK Test.

1)
Life in the UK Test: can I do self-study and just give the test?

Yes just buy the 3rd edition and read up it's quite straightforward

2) English Test: both I and my wife are already fluent in English: can we do self-study and just give the test or do we need to attend a course at a college?

Do the LIUK it's straightforward

3) English Test. In 2001 I got the Cambrige University "First Certificate in English" and I passed with Grade B. If I apply for UK naturalization before October 2013 can I just produce this certificate without giving any English Test and also without giving any Life in the UK Test?

You have to have the citizenship component - about the UK

If I apply for UK naturalization on or after October 2013, I must take both an a) English Test and b) the LIfe in the UK Test.

Not if you have a degree in English

4) Life in the UK Test: with this new law, ... can I still do self-study and just give the test?

Yes

5) English Test: both I and my wife are already fluent in English: can we do self-study and just give the test or do we need to attend a course at a college? [same question of no. 2 but related to an application on or after October 2013]

As above

6) Is the FCE at point no. 3 still usable/valid? If yes, does this mean that only the Life in the UK is needed?

See above

7) What is the cost of the Life in the UK Test? and where can I find the cheapest place to give it?

http://lifeintheuktest.ukba.homeoffice. ... ng_10.html

Can you please help me with these 7 questions?

Many thanks!!!

Amber, many thanks for your help here.

Answers 5 is not yet clear to me. You said "see above", that is no.3 "You have to have the citizenship component - about the UK ".

But in this case we'd need to have both Life in the UK Test and the English Test. Therefore, in this case (so after october) the citizenship component is already in the Life in the UK Test.

Having said this:

1) Would my "Cambrige University "First Certificate in English" Grade B valid, to avoid giving an English Tests?

2) In any case, can this English Test be done without attending a course?

3) Sorry I forgot this question before, for how long these 2 tests (Life in the UK and english Test) are valid?

Thanks for your reply!
The LIUK does not have an expiry date. As for the other see here for a list of what will satisfy the English test requirement.

Read the statement of intent if you used the certificate for entry under the PBS then it should suffice for the new test.
