Child Benefit ( immigration control question )

Post by Haidi5 » Sat May 18, 2013 12:34 am

Hi
I got my ILR on 27th March 2013.
My son was born in UK and recently got his British registration certificate.
I am planning to apply for his child benefit. On form there are 2 questions. First saying have I been under immigration control in last 3 months which I was until 27 March 2013. Secondly it's asking date of immigration control.
Now should I yes for first question?
What date I will be putting for second question?

Regards
Haider

It's to decide whether you can have child benefit backdated up to 3 months. You were subject to immigration control so the answer is yes and the date is 27/03/13. You'll need to send a copy of your BRP. It means that you'll only get child benefit backdated to 27/03/13 if you apply now rather than full 3 months. I assume your partner, if you have one, was also subject to immigration control?
