Visa and Passport

Post by Greenhammer » Mon May 20, 2013 7:08 pm

Hi all

Sorry for the daft question, but couldn't find the info on UKBA website.
I got told today that for my partner to apply for a spouse via, she has to apply from the same country as her passport.

Is this true?

Thanks for any help

She needs to apply from the country where she is resident.

That may, or may not, be the same place as the country where her passport is from.

Note that being somewhere on a tourist visa would almost certainly not count.

Thank you for your response MPH80

This is where it gets tricky. she lives in Syria.
So She has to apply either through Lebanon or Jordan. Which my partner does not want to do. And on top of this she Has Palestine passport.
And really really does not want to apply through there.

So is it possible she could apply for the spouse visa from Egypt?

Thanks

She needs to apply where she can - so that's either from the appropriate places in the west bank or going for the options outlined for the Syrian applicants.
