Naturalisation

Post by syedfarhatraza » Mon May 20, 2013 7:17 pm

I got ILR on November 15, 2012 under judicial review
Planning to apply for neutralisation any time after November 15 2013.

Do I need to pass Life In UK keeping in mind that I got ILR under judicial review. Same question is for English language going to be added after October 26.

Secondly I heard that anybody applying for neutralisation have to pass English test as well. I passed TOFEL test in 1990 with score of 509. Is it acceptable? If not what is the other equivalent English language qualification?

I think you mean naturalisation. However, unfortunately you have to meet the Knowledge of life in the uk requirement that's usually with the life in the uk test. However, how long did your ILR take and how long how you been in the country? As you may be able to apply for citizenship sooner. Also are you married or civil p to a British citizen?

I applied for HSMP in Feb 2005, earlier it was refused, applied for review, took long time and finally got approval letter in May 2006.
Applied for entry clearance, which was refused, appealed to tribunal which was successful.
However it took long time till 2008. Got entry clearance and came to UK on November 15.
On November 15 2012, got ILR based on judicial review.
I will complete my five years ( 4 + 1) on November 15 2013.
I have already passed Life in Uk Test.
Do I need to pass English Language Test going to be implemented after October 28 as I will apply for natrulisation on November 16 i.e. after completion of five year.
My dependent my wife and kids also got ILR with me as they were with me since two years. Can they also apply for natrulisation with on November 16 2013. They have stayed 3 years with me and still with me

As you need to be resident for 5 years and be settled for one you can apply to naturalise on November 15 2013, yes you will need to meet the English language requirement post October 2013, do you have any degrees taught in English?

Your children can possibly apply for registration now, if born if the UK, if born aboard they could still possibly register for citizenship now but it may be better waiting till you're a British citizen. Your wife will have to wait until you're a British citizen to naturalise as she's not been in the UK 5 years. You could apply together in November but you'll be hoping for discretion from the caseworker. Your wife will also need to meet the new language requirement post October 2013, does she have a degree taught in English?

I married and my wife is my HSMP dependent.
I am in the country since November 15, 2008.
Applied for ILR on November 20, 2012.
Letter issued by Home Office indicates that I have been issued ILR with effect from November 15, 2012.

Does these degree full fill the requirement?

My Wife do not have have any degree

My younger daughter is B.Tec Student in Excelsior College Newcastle. What about her regarding English Language Test?
Children under 18 are exempt. Providing your Degree is verified by NARIC - http://ecctis.co.uk/naric/ - as comparable to an English degree and is either on the NARIC list or you have a letter from the University to say the medium of teaching was English, that will be fine. Your wife will have to sit an English speaking and listening test.
