10 years through 2 different passports

Post by dualnational1 » Fri May 24, 2013 7:07 pm

I would like to know if anyone knows about applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain under the 10 year rule (Long residency) by using 2 different passports for visas.

Basically I am a dual national of the USA and Australia.

I came to the UK on a student visa (on my American passport) and will continue to stay by switching passports (to my Australian one) to the Youth Mobility Scheme. By switching passports back and forth I will eventually be a continuous resident in the UK for 10 years.

Will the years spent on a different passport count towards the 10 years?

Also are you able to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain on a student visa?

Many thanks in advance.

If you continued to switch/extend your visas during your 10 years stay then you must have attached and declared your passports in application forms each time of extension and in that case there must not be any issue. Moreover, ILR is now granted on BRP card.
