Accommodation requirements for family visitor

Post by av » Fri May 24, 2013 7:25 pm

Hello All,

This is indeed a nice forum and I would like to thank the moderators for keeping this forum up and running.

I am an ILR dependent visa holder and I am pregnant. My baby is due in December and I would like to invite my parents and my In-laws a few months before that to visit UK, to take care of me .

I am living in an 1 BHK house and my concern is that when my parents/in-laws apply for family visitor visa ,will the size of my 1 BHK house be an issue ?

Regards

I don't think you would have sufficient accommodation to put up all the people you are inviting in a 1BHK.

You and your partner plus baby and parents and in laws will not fit in this property

Hey All, Thanks for your reply. Just forgot to mention that my parrents/in-laws will not all be coming to London at the same time. It will be like say my mother comes for a month and then my mother-in-law for another month.

What I am worried is that UKBA may get the same perception that you guys got, that 1 BHK is too small, on the basis of which family visa can be given to four different people?

Now it makes sense what you are saying. In that case yes it is possible for this to happen. You and your hubby and baby can share the bedroom, whilst your mum/mum in law , can use the hall ( I assume this is the lounge/living room). If you do not have living or lounge room, and just the one bedroom, then I am afraid it will not be enough. You will need to make this clear in your application, otherwise just as I and the other poster thought, that there was not sufficient room, I am afraid the ECO might think the same as well.

How does the ECO check how many rooms you have?

In 2011, I had applied for Family visitor visa for my parents and just wrote a cover letter that they would stay with me in rented accommodation. I never gave details of rooms or tenancy agreement etc. Has it changed since then for family visitor (6 month) visas?

He doesn't. The onus is on the sponsor to show evidence that adequate accommodation is available for the applicant if and when they arrive in the UK.

If you don't provide this information there is a possibility that the ECO may refuse application.this is usually the case with applicants from Indo sub continent due to the large size of family and extended members of families who usually live together in the same household
