Tier 1 General Dependant for wife and son. Two applications

I am going to apply tier 1 general dependant visa of my wife and son. My question is do I have to submit 2 individual applications with two copies of all the documents i.e 2 copies of sponsor letter, bank statement, house agreement etc or
One joint set of documents with two individual application forms only

And plz let me know that can they travel beyond 3 months after getting their visa stamped
