Spanish residency and travel abroad

Post by cindycs » Mon May 27, 2013 8:38 am

Hello all,

If my non-EU husband, living with me in Spain, has a residence card from Spain, what are the limitations, if any, on travel out of the EU? He is from India and we were hoping to spend some winter months there before returning to Spain.

Thank you for any information.

Continuity of residence is not affected by temporary absences (generally not exceeding 6 months per year).

I assume you are an EU citizen.

He can use his Residence Card in Leu of a visa for entry into any EU member state except the UK. He should actually also be able to use it for entry into the UK, but airlines will prevent him from boarding.
