Physically Present in UK rule?

Post by dsch1978 » Mon May 27, 2013 6:24 pm

Hello! My partner and I submitted our applications for citizenship using the NCS in York on Wednesday morning. The woman mentioned something about having to be present in the UK when the Home Office receives the application. Is this correct?

I need to fly to Dublin this Wednesday morning, but the Home Office still hasn't taken payment (as of Saturday evening).

I will try to get the Royal Mail tracking number from the NCS tomorrow, to see if the Home Office has received the application. Is the important part the fact they have received it, or when they take the money?

Very nervous here! Thanks in advance for any replies!

No the NCS mean that you had to be physically present in the UK 5 years prior to the HO receiving your application to satisfy the residency requirement.

Thanks for the reply - the woman did specifically warn against travel until the HO had received the application..... don't think that is the same.

The requirement to be physically in the UK when the application is received by the HO has been changed so you have nothing to worry about. The important thing is that you were physically present in the UK 5 years prior to the HO receiving your application.
