naturalisation - date of ILR granted? letter or passport

Post by mon » Sat Feb 10, 2007 11:39 pm

About to apply for naturalisation, checking though my docs from ILR and noticed the letter granting my ILR is dated 29th March 2006, but states it is valid from 19th March, also the date on my passport sticker.

Should I chance going for the 19h (or 20th) or be sure and wait until the 29th? I intend to apply through NCS, as I have to travel about 6 weeks after application goes in, though I'm quietly hoping it'll be finalised before I leave!

If your letter says your ILR is valid from 19 March, and the stamp in your passport is dated 19 March, then I don't see why you shouldn't apply on the 19th or 20th. By the way, regarding travel plans, don't forget you need to be in the UK on the day your application is received by the Home Office. When I had my appointment with the NCS they asked me if I was planning to be out of the country over the following five days.

thanks, that's what I thought... have travel plans for May, so I'm hoping at least they'll have gotten back to me with any queries before then.

tried to make a NCS appointment today for Surrey, and earliest I can get is 3rd April, so am trying others nearby - why does Hampshire have four offices which offer NCS but Surrey only one? still, at least hampshire is literally just down the road!!

Of course, I have to pass my life in the UK test first, which is in a few weeks

Try the Wandsworth NCS. When I went there last week for my appointment the officer told me they were very quiet. Might be worth a try.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

A few weeks ago Westminster NCS told me they could see me the next day, if I wished.
